IELTS Course

ILETS (The international English language testing system) test was introduced in 1989 to assess whether candidates are ready to train in the medium of English.

ABOUT EXAMINATIONS:

The IELTS examinations are held weekly and can be done at the end of the course at an examination centre nearby. We recommend minimum course duration of 4 weeks, although shorter is also possible.

First Certificate in English (FCE)

The Cambridge First Certificate in English examination, or FCE for short, is a qualification in English as a Foreign Language awarded by Cambridge ESOL.

FCE is one of five examinations offered by Cambridge ESOL. The level of FCE is described as Intermediate. The table below shows how FCE fits into the Cambridge ESOL framework:

What will taking FCE help you do?

FCE is at Level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) — an internationally recognised benchmark of language ability. The framework uses six levels to describe language ability from A1 to C2. 'Can Do' statements have been used to describe these levels in terms of real skills with language.

For example, at B2 level, typical users can be expected to:

understand the main ideas of complex pieces of writing ;
keep up a conversation on a fairly wide range of topics, expressing opinions and presenting arguments;
produce clear, detailed writing, expressing opinions and explaining the advantages and disadvantages of different points of view;
your preparation for FCE will give you these kinds of practical language skills.

FCE is an upper-intermediate-level Cambridge ESOL exam, at Level B2 of the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This means that if you pass FCE, your level of English is good enough to be of practical use in many types of job. Successful FCE candidates can deal with everyday letters and telephone conversations, and can understand some non-academic training courses and simple textbooks and articles.
